The Monotype Guild of New England
invites members in good standing
to submit a maximum of three monotypes
or monoprints for an exhibition at

Thayer Academy Art Gallery in Braintree, MA.
This exhibit is JURIED.


JUROR:
R
achel Vogel is the assistant curator at the Addison Museum at Phillips Andover in Massachusetts and a historian of modern, contemporary and American Art with a focus on printmaking. Her dissertation, “Mutual Registration: Printmaking and/as Conceptual Art, 1965-1979,” analyzed the significance of print and printmaking for conceptual artists, revealing how they marshaled printmaking’s unique qualities to confront conventional notions of authorship, originality, and value. Rachel's research has been supported by the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Pittsburgh Foundation, the Richard and Susan Smith Foundation and Harvard University.

Juror Rachel Vogel will award three prizes:  1st place: $250, 2nd place: $150, 3rd place: $100.

VENUE:
Thayer Academy’s
Karen and Ted Koskores Art Gallery is located on the grounds of the Academy. This 1200 square foot gallery is set in the Southworth Library building and is accessible from the Central Street lot and is behind the Arts Center. Renovated in 2011, this beautiful gallery is on the ground floor of the Southworth Library. It can be accessed by calling the number at the door, at any time or requesting an appointment with the staff of security at the school.



ELIGIBILITY:
Your Monotype Guild membership must be up-to-date to participate. All prints must be either monotypes or monoprints. For detailed descriptions of those terms, please follow this link to our website: http://mgne.org/monotypedefined/
Submitted work cannot have been shown at an earlier MGNE exhibit. The fee to submit is $40 for up to 3 entries. MGNE is open to artists working in the medium of one-of-a-kind prints. To join MGNE, follow this link: https://mgne.org/membership/

REQUIREMENTS:
Work should be framed and ready to hang with a wire. Clip-on frames, saw-tooth and keyhole hangers will NOT be accepted. There is a size limit of 26"(H) x 32"(W) framed. The gallery can accommodate sculptures or other three-dimensional installations. The gallery director reserves the right to refuse installation of any work that is not appropriate for a professional exhibition at the Thayer Academy Gallery or does not meet the stated guidelines.

Please label all artwork with your name and title of the piece. In addition, you must attach the check-in label that you will print during the ArtCall submission.


ENTRY PROCESS:
Easy on-line registration is through ArtCall at this address: https://mgnethayeracademy.artcall.org
We will begin accepting entries on July 15, 2023, and will close submissions on August 27. ArtCall enables changes to your submissions until we close. Only JPEG files will be accepted. JPEGs should be sized between a minimum of 960 to a maximum of 1920 pixels on the longest side.


INSURANCE:
MGNE volunteers and Thayer Academy staff will handle your work with the care and respect that they accord their own work. Once in the Thayer Academy gallery, your work will be insured for the duration of the show.


SALES:
Thayer Academy encourages sales and provides the viewers with information concerning the prices of the various works and how to contact the artist. There is NO commission for work sold and the artist is responsible for any contact and negotiation. If your work is not for sale, enter zero in ArtCall.


DELIVERY:
Drop-off Dates: Sunday, October 1, 1-4pm and Monday October 2, 10am-2pm
Pick-up Dates: Sunday, November 19 and Monday, November 20, 10am-2pm.

Upon acceptance into the show, an email will be sent with specific instructions on shipping and dropping off, with a list of artists in your area if you would like to collaborate with other members for delivery and pickup.
